CSI Club
Description:
The CSI club is an extension of the Forensic Science Suite from the Synergistics Lab class. The students investigate the science behind criminal investigations. The teams use real-world tools to learn and practice the same kinds of techniques used by their professional counterparts. The students will learn as a team to identify and collect evidence, and analyze the data collected in order to solve given scenarios.
Requirement/Objectives:
·         Explore the history of forensic science and the use of scientific principles to solve crimes.
·         Learn the technique used to lift fingerprints from a piece of evidence.
·         Explore the DNA fingerprinting process.
·         Learn about the history of forensic chemistry.
·         Examine trace evidence and capture digital images of crime scenes along with sketching and analyzing.
·         Learn about different types of chromatography.
·         Test the physical and chemical properties of unknown powders, soils, and gun shot residues.
Meetings:
(Synergistics Lab) Tuesdays from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Additional Information:
There is a High School CSI competition in May at Caldwell College.
Ten students are chosen to participate in the competition.
