Robotics Club
Description:
The Robotics club is an extension of the Intelligent Systems Suite from the Synergistics Lab class. The Suite Team learns how the parts work together and explores how to control the hardware and software of these systems. After they master these skills, the team is challenged to build robotic solutions for a variety of unique scenarios finishing with a robot designed specifically for sumo wrestling.
Requirement/Objectives:
· Examine the components of automated systems including robotic components, electrical components, sensors, and software.
· Explore how sensing devices relate to robotic applications.
· Become familiar with the various elements that make a system work.
· Learn about the intelligence behind intelligent systems.
· Design and create software that makes basic decisions based on information received.
· Learn about binary values, Boolean logic, and the three basic Boolean operators: “and,” “not,” and “or.”
· Create computer programs that use external sensors to control output devices.
· Learn the scientific definition of robotics.
· Study BioRobotics, the integration of technological engineering with the life sciences.
· Learn how robotics is employed in modern medicine and science.
· Consider characteristics of robots that make them beneficial additions to a variety of industries.
· Adapt these techniques by designing and building a robot that will be used in a sumo wrestling competition.
Meetings:
(Synergistics Lab) Tuesdays from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Additional Information:
The students will be able to use their robots in a sumo wrestling competition in May
