• Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!

    August 25, 2016

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

As the new Interim Superintendent of Saddle Brook Schools, I welcome you to the start of the 2016-2017 school year. First let me say that it is an honor for me to take on this leadership role in Saddle Brook and I am looking forward to working with everyone in moving our district forward. I welcome your input and concerns and can assure you that I will make myself available to you to listen and address those areas that perhaps need improvement but more importantly to assist all students in the Saddle Brook Schools.

In addition, there will be times when I will reach out to you to join committees and teams that will work collaboratively to develop the best learning environment in all of our schools.

Students will begin school on Tuesday, September 6th which will be the start of an exciting and rewarding school year for all. This is an instructional day and students will begin working with their teachers in creating a positive educational experience for the school year. As we approach the first day of school, it is important for you to know that the Saddle Brook School District and the Board of Education have been very busy preparing and updating many of the school facilities for our students and staff. Our custodians and maintenance workers have worked extremely hard in making the necessary repairs in each school and in cleaning and upgrading classrooms and school grounds. In addition, there have been major projects that took place which include the ongoing renovation of our High School Auditorium, a new track, window replacements, additional security cameras in each building, boiler replacement at Smith School and a new District Website. Ongoing improvements will continue throughout the school year to enhance the overall learning environment whenever necessary.

Our administrators have been very involved in preparations for all areas of education including overseeing work in their schools, working on curriculum, preparing and sorting through new material and developing educational programs dedicated to student learning on all levels. Staff members have dedicated their summer to ongoing course work, professional development and some were actively involved in multiple student support programs available within our schools. Of course, there was some relaxation time involved so that all of us will be rejuvenated for the start of the school year.

As always, there have been a number of personnel changes that have or will be taking place before the beginning of the year as we replace those staff members who have retired or moved on. New appointments for the district will include teachers at various levels and subject areas.

I personally want to welcome and congratulate our new staff members. In addition, I thank all staff, Board of Education members and administrators that took the time and interest to participate on interview committees and who voluntarily spent numerous hours to review candidates and assisted in making the best possible choices for our school district and the Saddle Brook Community.

Please be aware that the information you need for your child this year, can be found on our website. You can log onto www.saddlebrookschools.org or your student’s school or by stopping by the Board of Education Office.

All students will report to their assigned schools on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016, at their scheduled time. On behalf of the staff of the Saddle Brook School District, I wish you and your children a healthy, happy, productive and successful school year.
